Our People

The Investment Banking division of Brewin Dolphin comprises a multi-disciplined team of 19 directors and 45 other professionals based in offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Newcastle, offering a national footprint that brings the City to the companies that we support and the advantage of a  team specialising in the mid-market and SmallCap arena.

Biographies

    • Graeme Summers

    • Head of Investment Banking
    • After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, Graeme joined Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin in 1992 as an equity analyst. He became a Director in 1996 and was made Head of Investment Banking for the group in 2007.

    • Jamie Cumming

    • Deputy Head of Investment Banking
    • After graduating from Strathclyde University Business School, Jamie spent three years with Touche Ross, latterly working in insolvency. He then joined Parsons & Co as an investment analyst in 1978 and joined Bell Lawrie White (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1996, where he became a director. He has held the Queen’s Commission and is a Fellow of The Securities and Investments Institute

    • Mark Brady

    • Head of Corporate Finance
    • Having qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG, Mark joined the corporate finance team of Charlton Seal (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1988, where he became a director in 1993. Mark is the immediate past chairman of the Quoted Companies Alliance, and is also a member of the Yorkshire and North East Regional Advisory Group of the London Stock Exchange and the PlusMarkets Primary Markets Advisory Group.

    • Matt Davis

    • Deputy Head of Corporate Finance
    • Following qualification as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte & Touche in 1995, he joined the corporate finance team of Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1996 before moving to Baird in 1998. He re-joined Brewin Dolphin in 2004 as a director in the corporate finance team.

    • John Dickinson

    • Deputy Head of Equity Research
    • Following qualification as a chartered accountant with Arthur Young 1983, he worked in the City as an equity analyst with Credit Lyonnais Laing & Cruikshank for six years before joining Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin), where he became a director in 1992.

    • Neil Baldwin

    • Director – Corporate Finance
    • After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells, Neil first gained experience in the corporate finance department of Morgan Crucible and then County Natwest. He joined the corporate finance team of Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1994, where he has been a director since 1998.

    • Andrew Emmott

    • Director – Corporate Finance
    • Andrew joined the corporate finance team at Brewin Dolphin in 1999, having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1997. He became a director in 2006.

    • Richard Evans

    • Director – Corporate Finance
    • Richard joined the corporate finance team at Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1997 following a two year secondment to the Listing Department of the London Stock Exchange. Prior to this he worked at BDO Stoy Hayward's corporate finance department for seven years. He became a director in 2001. He has been a lecturer on Financial Services Authority training courses in Corporate Finance and is Chairman of the Quoted Companies Alliance's Nomad Working Group.

    • Sandy Fraser

    • Managing Director – Corporate Finance
    • Sandy joined Phillips & Drew as a graduate trainee in the corporate finance department in 1982 and was appointed a director six years later. From 1990 to 1992 he was corporate development director of a listed retail services company. He returned to the City in 1993 as a corporate finance director of Guinness Mahon & Co, which was acquired by Investec Henderson Crosthwaite a year later. He joined Brewin Dolphin’s corporate finance team in 2002 as a director.

    • David Green

    • Head of Equity Sales & Trading
    • Having studied Economics at Sheffield University, David began his career with Wise Speke (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1996 on the firm’s dealing desk and joined the equity sales & trading team in 2000. He became a director in 2005.

    • Miriam Greenwood OBE

    • Director – Debt Advisory
    • After qualifying as a barrister, Miriam joined Warburgs, where she developed the first interest rate and currency swap products. She then headed Morgan Grenfell’s Treasury Services Group and was managing director of Morgan Grenfell (Scotland), latterly heading Deutsche Bank’s UK Financial Institutions business. She joined British Linen Advisers in 1999 as a founding director and chief operating officer, with particular responsibility for the debt advisory business. From 2004 she was responsible for the Debt Advisory business at Quayle Munro Holdings plc and joined Brewin Dolphin in 2006 to form its Debt Advisory unit. Miriam is a non-executive Director of OFGEM, Gartmore Global Trust Plc and Heritage Underwriting Agency Plc. She is also a Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh.

    • Elizabeth Kennedy

    • Senior Consultant Director – Corporate Finance
    • A qualified solicitor, Elizabeth joined the corporate finance department of Parsons & Co in 1981.and joined Bell Lawrie (now Brewin Dolphin) in 1995 as a director in the corporate finance team. She was appointed to the London Stock Exchange's AIM Advisory Group in 1995 and was Chairman of that group between 1999 and 2002. She is Chairman of Close Second AIM VCT Plc and a non-Executive Director of F&C Private Equity Trust plc.

    • Andrew Kitchingman

    • Managing Director – Corporate Finance
    • Having qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Anderson before entering the City with first Hill Samuel Merchant Bank and then Albert E Sharp Stockbrokers where he was a director from 1995 to 1998. Moving to Yorkshire in 1998 he led the PLC advisory team for both KPMG and Ernst & Young before joining the corporate finance team at Brewin Dolphin in 2004 as a director.

    • Michael Parkinson

    • Head of Research
    • Following qualification as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1996, Michael specialized in Transaction Services, performing due diligence for venture capital and corporate clients on a wide range of transactions, before joining Brewin Dolphin as an equity analyst in 2000. He became a director in 2006. he specializes in construction support services and renewable and environmental services. He was ranked top in the UK in the AQ Research Survey of the Accuracy of Analyst recommendations in 2004 and was top stock picker in the Starmine Analyst Awards for 2006 in the construction and construction materials sector.

    • Nick Owen

    • Head of Corporate Broking
    • Nick is a qualified accountant who, prior to joining Brewin Dolphin in 2003, worked for 17 years as a fund manager gaining valuable industry experience. Most recently he was responsible for the management of the Smaller Company and Ethical & Socially Responsible Investment Funds at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership in Edinburgh. Before this he spent several years as a fund manager at the Halifax and was Head of Investments for a large local authority pension fund. During his time as a fund manager Nick consistently achieved strong fund performance and his wealth of experience has proven invaluable to the Brewin Dolphin team in both Sales and Corporate Broking roles.

    • Roland Walton

    • Director – Equity Sales & Trading
    • Roland graduated with First Class Honours in Engineering and went on to research mathematical modelling of river water quality. He has been working in the City since 1986, joining Brewin Dolphin in 2001. He specialises in risk arbitrage and is currently head of the Equity Sales Trading desk.
